This week’s featured book is The King of Kindergarten by Derrick Barnes. In this wonderful picture book the little boy experiences his first day of school.
It’s a great read aloud for you and your preschooler to see how schools work. We love the message of friendships and sharing throughout the book.

Back to School Activities with The King of Kindergarten Week for Preschoolers
A planned week of simple activities for preschoolers on the theme of back to school featuring the picture book The King of Kindergarten by Derrick Barnes.
Our sensory bin this week is an alphabet themed one made with beans or other fillers that you may have around the house.
We're playing outside with chalks to work on letter recognition and form.
A great way for preschoolers to learn their numbers making their own number books with photographs.
A cute snack this week is these graham cracker apples, you and your preschooler could make them with candy melts like suggested or why not some frosting?
Our craft this week is a pencil for back to school that doubles up as a learning activity as we practice our name.
